I want to get my friend an Xbox gift, but I cannot purchase one of those point cards. I would like to give him a game over the Xbox, or buy points for him over the Xbox. Is there some way to do that?Is it possible to give points or games over Xbox live?
No you cannot, however amazon.com can email you the code and you can forward it to your friend

nope, you can't do this unless you are both a part of the same xbox live gold family subscription. and that's kind of complicated unless you actually live in the same house.
