Do I need to be signed into xbox live to play a full game(games on demand, not arcade) that I bought and DLed?

If I purchase a full game from xbox live, such as Tales of Vesperia or another full game, will I be required to be signed into xbox live to play it? My internet has been quite bad recently and I dont want to have to wait for it to be up to play. Could I download it while its up and then play it offline?Do I need to be signed into xbox live to play a full game(games on demand, not arcade) that I bought and DLed?
In my experience with this you can play it offline only on the ORIGINAL console you bought/downloaded it on.



Say if you go to a friends house, sign in to your live and stuff- it will let you download it but you must be signed into live if its not the original console.

Once you bought this soft ware it should have immedialty been downloaded onto your xbox.. you can be at sea with no internet (idk why at sea..just go with it) and you can still play this game... wait until it downloads completely ...wait for your BLEEP BLOOP that says "Download completed" then play on
